May 2014: This section of our new website is still under construction.

The Fire Prevention section is under the direction of Deputy Fire Marshal/Captain Rod Conway, who has been providing service to the citizens of the Keizer Fire District since 1986. Deputy Fire Marshal Conway receives assistance in the daily operations of the section from Public Education Specialist Anne-Marie Storms. The Fire Prevention section coordinates an extensive Fire and Life Safety inspection program in Keizer’s business community. The purpose of the program is to make the business community less vulnerable to the ravages of fire through enforcement of theOregon Fire Code.

The Fire Prevention section also coordinates the investigation of all hostile fires that occur within the Keizer Fire District boundaries. Smaller, routine fires are customarily investigated by the company officer that responds to the incident. The Fire Prevention section conducts more complex fire and arson investigations. The section works closely with the Keizer Police Department and Oregon State Police to bring arson suspects to justice.

Additionally, we expend a considerable amount of effort in facilitating the community development process. We review fire sprinkler and alarm system plans for conformity with applicable codes and standards. Other construction plans are reviewed to ensure compliance with codes and standards applicable to fire and life safety concerns.

If we may be of assistance to you on a matter of fire safety, prevention, or education, please feel free to contact us at 503-390-9111.
