The Keizer Fire District is establishing a Civil Service entrance register for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic with plans to fill two vacant positions and, if approved by the Board of Directors, two new positions by July 1st, 2019 and potentially others during the life of the list.  Individuals filling this position are responsible for providing advanced life support care and transport of sick and injured persons, fire suppression, rescue, public service requests, public education, station/equipment maintenance and other related tasks.  Minimum qualifications to apply are: valid and insurable Oregon Class “C” driver’s license, State of Oregon Licensed Paramedic, NFPA Firefighter 1, NFPA Driver, and a valid Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) card.  Candidate must also have a minimum of one (1) year firefighter and pre-hospital patient care experience.  Within twelve months of employment must obtain NFPA Instructor 1 and NFPA Hazardous Materials Operations.  Paramedic program students will be allowed to apply upon receipt of verifiable proof of their program completion date being no later than January 31st, 2020.

Note: We have been informed that CPAT testing in the Salem/Keizer area is full up to April 12th. We will accept CPAT cards completed after April 12th. You MUST have a CPAT card prior to being offered a position.

Applicants must complete a National Testing Network FireTEAM examination and have those results submitted to the District by 5:00pm on April 12th, 2019.  After screening of the submitted applications and FireTEAM results, up to the top 30 candidates will invited to a three person interview panel, tentatively scheduled for April 30th and May 1st, 2019.
